We have great news for all lovers of the Art Deco style and of the 1930s. The Pelican restaurant on Na Příkopě Street in Prague has been recently reopened. After a long break, the original interior of the restaurant has been carefully renovated in this style. Its unobtrusive elegance will certainly appeal to people of modern era. It will attract your attention the soft reddish brown combined with off-white presails in the interior of the restaurant as well as the portraits of popular stars, such as Edith Piaff, Fred Astaire with Shirley Temple-Black, Glenn Miller and Lída Baarová which also represent a pleasant combination of art from the interwar period. Moreover, enjoy the quiet murmur of the meticulously restored fountain cascade at the entrance, which blends with the sound of the 1930s music.

Renewing the original interior was anything but simple. The metal-plated staircase railings and the mirror frames have been preserved in quite good conditions. Nevertheless, the glass producer „Presiosa“ from North Bohemia had to manufacture the missing unique crystal-glass chandelier, which was custom-made according to the archive drawings from the 1930s!

The restaurant seats 150 people and its fully air-conditioned space is very flexible. It frequently hosts families, company social events, and thanks to its interconnected saloons with other 70 seats upstairs, seminars with refreshments, for instance, can be organized here as well. For travel operators, the restaurant prepares folk art events with evening programs of songs and dancing. Guests appreciate not only good Czech and International cuisine but also the fact that the Pelican restaurant windows offer a unique view over one of the busy commercial thoroughfares of Prague - Na Příkopě Street. The spacious restaurant room with a central staircase looks as it was made for fashion shows. The first show was held here at the ceremonial opening of the restaurant and - predictably - it showed period tailored costumes of the 1930s.

The Pelican restaurant is well-known among Prague residents. Not only because it is located directly in the center but also thanks to the management which, together with an experienced chef, aim to fulfill every individual wish, offering quality and a rich culinary experience.
